Highlighted by an elegant base

The glassmaking technique, perfected by the Romans, was so refined that it is still used today in the traditional glassworks of Murano, Venice, Italy. This technique made it possible to create vases with extremely thin and delicate glass walls, transforming glass from a functional product into a luxury item. This technique was later adopted by Islamic workshops at the height of their technological development, during the Abbasid and Umayyad dynasties, in the heart of the Middle Ages. This glass was so durable that many objects, like this small ointment jar, have remained intact.
