Rare Gallo-Roman skyphos with globule decoration and lead glaze.
A ceramic cup with two vertical handles resting on a ring foot, the body decorated with small dots is covered with a green-yellow glaze.
Gallo-Roman art, 1st/2nd century AD.

A very rare piece!Around 40/30 BC, lead glaze began to be applied in Gallia Lugdunensis, where molded beakers, skyphoi, kantharoi, and studded beakers were produced. These pieces, produced from the time of Tiberius until the 2nd century, are found mainly in central and western Gaul, and in Britain.
Provenance information: France, French private collection passed down through inheritance.
A lead-glazed skyphos sold for 10,200 euros in 2009.
